Abstract

Variable-speed variable-frequency (VSVF) operational mode for wind power generation system based on induction generator is proposed based on the fractional frequency power generation & transmission technology, while control strategy aiming at optimizing wind power output with field orientation control (FOC) technology is also introduced, without measuring the wind speed. The effect of transmission and transformation equipment to the control strategy is considered, according to the structure of VSVF wind power generation system. Two types wind power generation system i.e. Constant-Speed Constant Frequency (CSCF) and VSVF are developed and analyzed. Simulation results with PSCAD/EMTDC demonstrate that the optimizing the wind power output and decreasing the power loss of the transmission line can be achieved.
