Abstract

Throughput is one of the most important performance indicators in wireless communication system. In this paper different signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) mapping methods are compared and an effective SNR mapping method based on independent subcarriers is selected that can facilitate throughput modeling of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing system. The effective SNR of the system is determined by using the independent subcarriers which can fully reflect the channel's frequency selectivity using a small number of subcarriers. It can greatly reduce the complexity and time cost of throughput modeling. The accuracy of the throughput modeling method based on the effective SNR mapping method is demonstrated by the actual throughput measurements.
