Abstract

Based on the volume-averaged model, the physical and mathematical model to describe the solid-liquid phase change in porous metallic foam was developed. The natural convection of liquid paraffin and local thermal non-equilibrium effect between paraffin and the metal matrix were taken into account. The results presented the velocity field, interface variation and the temperature deviation between paraffin and metal foam, which validated the necessity of the two-equation model.
