Abstract
Nucleate boiling is widely used in industries due to very high heat transfer coefficient. Thus, its physical mechanisms and effect factors have been extensively investigated over the last few decades. In this article, a complete 2-D numerical simulation on nucleate boiling in shallow liquid has been performed. A coupled volume-of-fluid and level-set method (VOSET) was used to deal with the moving liquid-vapor interface. The effects of static contact angle, wall superheat and gravity levels on the bubble dynamics and heat transfer are investigated. The results reveal some boiling mechanisms.
