Abstract

The Roll-Ring with a rolling electrical contact is usually utilized in an electrical energy transmission system between two continuous relative rotated equipments, such as the rotation system in radar, tank, space station and so on. As long as the requirement of the transmission power increasing in these years, the rolling electrical characteristic is more and more important for the long-life design of the rolling ring, due to the influence of the thermal effect produced by the electrical resistance which will accelerate the degradation process of the Roll-Ring. In this paper, a three-dimensional numerical model is developed to simulate the rolling electrical contact. In the model, the structural stress, deformation of the flexible ring, current contraction and thermal effect are considered. Based on the calculation, the temperature distribution, current density and the contact status can be obtained. Moreover, the influences of the contact pressure on the electrical contact resistance are analyzed in detail.
