Abstract
Submerged steam jets are critical in chemical and energy industries. High intensity of interfacial heat and mass transfer causes fluctuations in the interface and pressure. The interface fluctuation and pressure oscillation of steam jet were numerically investigated. The dynamic process of the jet interface under different conditions was obtained. The oscillation characteristics of the interface pressure were analyzed. The occurrence frequency of interfacial vapor clusters is consistent with the dominant frequency of the interface pressure oscillation. The periodic fluctuation of the interface causes unsteady flow of the plume interior. Spectrum analysis of the plume interior pressure indicates that the compression and expansion waves and related high- and low-pressure regions oscillate periodically inside the plume. It can be regarded as a pressure vibration source that propagates in different directions and causes the oscillation of flow field pressure. The simulation provides a better understanding of the oscillation mechanism of steam jet.
