Abstract
This paper focuses on the ultra-high voltage DC (UHVDC) switch MRTB, arc model coupled with circuit and mechanism motion in MRTB is built based on magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) theory, and the arc self-excitation process in arc chamber is calculated with the model. The temperature, pressure distribution, the oscillation current and arc voltage curve are shown in simulation results, and the calculation results are verified by experiments. The model represented in this paper can be used for the self-excitation process analysis in MRTB, the influence of circuit parameters on arc process, and for the arc chamber optimization in circuit breaker and so on, and lay a theoretical foundation for the research and development of UHVDC switch MRTB.
