Abstract
A novel optical voltage transducer for ultra-high voltage measurement is proposed, which consists of three parts: deformation measurement unit, photoelectric conversion circuit and power supply unit. Based on the converse piezoelectric effect, the alternating deformation of quartz crystal under alternating high voltage is measured by the optical lever. The principle of deformation detection is introduced and the multi-loop optical arm embedded in two parallel plates is applied to reduce the size of transducer with required accuracy. The optical path is dependent only on the height of the parallel plates and the laser incident angle, and independent of the width of the parallel plates, which facilitates the structural design of transducer. A precise photoelectric conversion circuit is designed to convert the optical signal to electric voltage, based on which, the ultra-high voltage transducer (500 kV) meets the accuracy class of 0.1.
