Abstract

In this paper, a novel distributed magnet flux modulation machine (DM-FMM) with a high power factor and high torque density is presented. Based on the flux modulation principle, a distributed stator magnet arrangement is proposed. This topology effectively reduces flux leakage. According to the finite element analysis (FEA) results, the power factor is 0.93 and the torque density reaches 30.9 kNm/m3 at conventional current density. In addition, power factor performance is still impressive at twice the current overload.
