Abstract
A nonaqueous mixed amine solution based on N-methylformamide (NMF) was developed for CO2 capture. The CO2 absorption and desorption performances of seven amine-based and mixed amine solvents were evaluated. The PZMN-12 solution (12 wt % PZ + 18 wt % MEA + 70 wt % NMF) exhibited the improved performance, achieving a desorption rate of 99.76% at 110 °C. The kinetics of CO2 absorption with PZMN-12 was analyzed, revealing an activation energy of 44.013 kJ/mol, which is 25.06% lower than that of monoethanolamine (MEA) solution. The desorption activation energy was determined to be 135.816 kJ/mol. Energy consumption was reduced to 1.67 GJ/tCO2 by combining the rich solvent split-flow (RSSF) and lean vapor compression (LVC) processes. PZMN-12 is recommended as a promising new solvent for CO2 capture.
