Abstract
For the convenience of operational tests about the high power thyristor valves, a new synthetic test equipment (STE) is presented based on the analysis of the current test technology for high power thyristor valves and the requirements of the IEC Standards for the STE, as well as the topology and operation theory of the STE. The new STE can provide many flexible test modes to meet the test requirements of bi-directional SVC valves and one-way HVDC valve modules and has many merits such as high-test ability and wide range of the test object. It provides a good testing platform for the research on the high power thyristor valves.
