Abstract

LiTaO3type ceramics have been sintered with the aid of oxide or fluoride additives containing magnesium. The (MgF2+ LiF) mixture allowed to obtain high densification by firing at 900°C in wet air. The formation of an hydroxofluoride liquid phase is responsible for the sintering.
