Abstract

Radiative heat transfer is drastically enhanced in nano insulation material at hightemperature conditions and it is crucial to dope infrared opacifier into such materials. To study the influences of opacifier on nano insulation material, this paper analyzes radiative properties of carbon-doped silica aerogel by the Mie theory and Monte Carlo method. The results indicate that the carbon powder could block infrared radiation and thus the thermal insulating performance of silica aerogel is improved effectively after the parameter optimization. The present study is of guiding significance for the selection and optimization of opacifier for silica aerogel doping in engineering applications.
