Abstract

Cascaded H-bridge (CHB) multilevel inverter has gained more and more focus due to its adaptability to high-power, high-voltage applications and capability of fault tolerant. In this paper, modeling of the CHB multilevel inverter under RMS feedback control is presented. This particular control scheme is suitable for the control system that has a strong demand for the output voltage amplitude accuracy. This paper first discusses the modulation strategy of the CHB multilevel converter, and then the modeling of this RMS feedback control system is discussed, especially on the selection of the control parameters. Finally, by applying different controller parameters, the performance of the control system is analyzed, and the experimental results are presented which verified the validity of the proposed model for the CHB multilevel inverter under RMS feedback control.
