Abstract

The problems of energy delivery capacity and realizability have long been neglected in the mathematical formulation of economic dispatch of power systems. In recent years, however, the problems have drawn much attention of researchers in the related fields. A new model of economic dispatch in thermal power plant was established. The problem of energy balance was formulated and the optimal generation schedule of each unit was obtained. The realizable and balanced power supply was guaranteed since the schedule generated based on the new model was energy realizable. The problem was solved by the sequential quadratic programming algorithm. Preliminary numerical testing is performed and the results show that the solution based on the new model is more practical and realizable in comparison with those based on the traditional economic dispatch formulation.
