Abstract

A Cr-Ni-Si intermetallic alloy consisting of Cr3Si primary dendrites and interdendritic Cr3Si/Cr13Ni5Si2 eutectics was fabricated using the self-designed laser melting furnace. The microstructures of the intermetallic compound were analyzed by means of OM, SEM, TEM, EDS and XRD. The wear resistance was tested under the high-temperature (400°C, 500°C and 600°C) sliding wear conditions. The Cr3Si/Cr13Ni5Si2 intermetallic alloy has good high-temperature sliding wear resistance because of the high hardness and strong atomic bonds.
