MHD model and simulation research of vacuum arc

Abstract

Based on two-fluid model of ion and electron and Maxwell equation, the two-dimensional magnetohydro dynamic (MHD) model of vacuum arc was obtained. In the MHD model, mass conservation equation, momentum conservation equations, energy conservation equations, Maxwell equation and generalized ohm's law were considered. By numerically calculating above equations, the plasma parameters and current density of vacuum arc were obtained. According to the simulation results, the influence of arc current, electrode gap and different distributed axial magnetic field on vacuum arc plasma parameters and current density were calculated and analyzed.
