Abstract

A method manufactured rapidly three-dimension electromagnetic band gap (EBG) structure is studied. In this process, combining stereolithograph(SL) and gel-casting, diamond-structure negative molds are fabricated using SL technology and ceramic parts are formed by gel-casting, in which three-dimension EBG with diamond structure could be fabricated. The test of microwave frequency spectrum shows that, bandgap of the EBG structures is between 10.24-12.22 GHz, matching close with that designed theoretically. Three-dimensional EBG structure reconstructed with micro-CT shows that their internal structure is intact, and linear density is uniform and stable. Manufactured and tested results display the manufacturing method based on SL could achieve to manufacture rapidly and precisely three-dimensional EBG structure and demonstrate its true microwave transmission performance. The technique combining SL and gel casting provides an efficient method to rapidly manufacture three-dimension EBG structure and research its microwave transmission performance.
