Abstract
The mechanism of martensite aging effect, including rubber-like behavior and martensite stabilization, is discussed. It is shown that symmetry conforming-short range order mechanism can explain all characteristics associated with the aging effect at least qualitatively, and further predicts other new phenomena associated with it. The mechanism is compared with other mechanisms previously proposed.
