Abstract

The influences of crosslinking agent, co-crosslinking agent, reinforcer and plasticizer on the mechanical properties of polyolefin elastomers (POE) were discussed with peroxide as crosslinking agent using metallocene catalyst. The results showed that the tensile strength, elongation at break and permanent set at break of POE decreased greatly after crosslinking. Addition of co-crosslink agent increased the degree of crosslinking and shortened the vulcanization time. Addition of carbon black had the effect of reinforcing, increased the 100% tensile modulus, tear strength, tensile strength and Shore A hardness, decreased the elongation at break and permanent set at break. Addition of plasticizer lowered some mechanical properties, but increased elongation at break and decreased Shore A hardness. When little amount of plasticizer was added, POE showed excellent aging property. A recipe of radiation hose was developed and its properties reached DIN standard.
