Abstract

This paper presents a new method for measuring the planar motion based on image segmentation and matching. A measuring system is designed to fix the camera on the planar moving object and collect the image of the motion plane continuously. Matching points are extracted from two images before and after movement by speed up robust features operator to calculate the three-degree-of-freedom (3-DOF) planar motion parameters, so the measurement of global motion including translational and rotary movement is realized. A segment-match strategy with global and local matching after image mapping by bilinear interpolation is proposed to improve the computing speed so as to realize real-time measurement.
