Abstract

A kind of photo-diode detector used in visible light measurement of Tokamak plasma was developed. The selected photo-diode was a PIN photo-diode SPD3X3. Using the developed detector, the Tokamak visible light could be measured without optical fiber, and in comparison with the measurement by photo-multiplier tube, it had better signal to noise ratio. This kind of detector was characterized by its high quantum efficiency, good linearity, wide frequency and low noise and had many advantages, such as small size, low cost and easy for use. It is satisfied to measure weak visible light in Tokamak with radiation intensity around 4×10 W/(cm Sr).
