Abstract

In this paper, a layered degree-constrained overlay multicast (LDCOM) for interactive media is presented, which is tailored toward support of two-way interactive media as well as one-way live media at the same time. LDCOM distinguishes itself from previous research with the following characteristics: (1) the multicast tree is organized in two hierarchies, the layered degree-constrained core tree for interactive media and the extended clustering tree for large-scale live media delivery. (2) A dynamic user interaction adjustment algorithm based on the layered degreeconstrained tree is introduced, which is especially beneficial for the interactive scenario. The simulation results show that LDCOM builds a scalable overlay multicast tree, and is able to cope with the interactive media.
