Abstract

Plasma discharge has great many advantages in water treatment and the relevant industrial applications require large volume discharge in water to increase the efficiency. In the paper, the optical images of large volume discharges in water with sphere-to-cylinder and rod-to-cylinder electrode were achieved under different impulse voltage parameters such as amplitude, polarity and pulse width. Additionally, by means of the evolution images of streamer propagation in water, a stepwise trend during the wave front time of streamer propagation is obtained, which is explained by the interactions with streamer resistance, charge distribution and discharge conditions change.
