Abstract

The problem of high peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) and phase noise (PHN) weighs heavily against the performance of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). They can cause out-of-band radiation and signal distortion. The clipping method is efficient to reduce the high PAPR. This paper studies the problem of data detection under PHN for clipped OFDM. An optimization function is established over PHN and data. After that, the variational message passing theory is applied to calculate the key parameters of the simplified posterior distribution of unknown parameters. Theoretical analysis and simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness and merit of the proposed algorithm.
