I/O manager used in transparent computing - TCIOM

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

This paper presents the design and implementation of an I/O Manager working in LAN; TCIOM. TCIOM can support multi-OS remote boot and run in Transparent Computing environment. TCIOM includes TCIOM Client running on the clients and TCIOM Server working on the server. In Transparent Computing Mode, the operation system of the clients is separated from the hardware, and the operation system and applications which users want to use are all stored on the server. TCIOM Client setups the disk access redirection mechanism, and then sends I/O requests to the server. TCIOM Server receives all the requests from clients, and operates the Virtual Disk Files on the server. TCIOM Server organizes the data and then sends the data to the clients to support OS remote boot and run.
