abstract = "The issue of surface reconstruction from large amount scattered three-dimension measured data by laser scanning system has been receiving extensive attention recently. In order to realize Rapid Response Manufacturing and Rapid Prototyping Manufacturing, it very necessary to integrated curves measuring system with surface reconstruction system to form an integrated reverse engineering system, for it is an iterative and commutative process. The objective of this work is to develop such an integrated reverse engineering system for laser scanning measured data. The laser scanning measuring system is base on triangulation measuring principle. The integrated system and the method of data segmentation, surface fitting, error analysis is proposed. The curves reconstruction method is based on B-Spline curves and NURBS surface. The need of rapid prototyping and NC manufacturing is considered at the same time. The system is development on OpenGL with Visual C++, its feasibility of the proposed method has been verrified by computer simulation and experiment results.",
