abstract = "WC-12Co powder with multimodal sized WC particles was prepared by ball-milling process. Carbide particle size was modified through ball-milling time. Spray powder was fabricated through crushing the sintered ball-milled WC-Co powders. The porosity of spray powder was adjusted by cold compaction of the milled powders. WC-12Co powders with different porosity levels were deposited onto stainless steel substrate by cold spraying using helium as a processing gas. The micro-hardness and fracture toughness of WC-12Co deposits were measured on the cross-section by the indentation approach. It was found that the deposit sprayed with the powders of small size WC, resulting from a long ball milling time, exhibits high micro-hardness and high fracture toughness. The deposit sprayed with a high porosity powder exhibits low micro-hardness and high fracture toughness. Influence of the powder structure on the micro-hardness and fracture toughness of cold-sprayed WC-12Co deposit is discussed.",
