Abstract
The gasification of hemicellulose in supercritical water to produce hydrogen-rich gas was performed, and K2CO3, Ca(OH)2 and Ru/C were used as catalysts during the gasification processes. The experimental results show that all the catalysts have good catalytic effect on the gasification of hemicellulose and for hydrogen production, in which Ru/C is the best one. Hydrogen production reaches 14.365 mol when added 0.8 g Ru/C to 1 kg hemicellulose, which is 1.6 and 1.9 times that when K2CO3 and Ca(OH)2 were added respectively. The hydrogen productivity with the mixture of several catalysts mentioned above is greater than that with a single catalyst. Temperature increasing could obviously improve the productivity of hydrogen, and reduce methane productioa In addition, different residence times affect the gasification, and 20 minutes is optimal.
