Abstract

The micro-depletion model in the * SIMULATE module of RFSP, an AECL reactor fuelling simulation program, has been improved to account for multiple fuel regions in the fuel cluster. A comparison between results using various methods (one-region micro-depletion, multi-region micro-depletion, and WIMS) was performed for enriched fuel. The comparison shows that the improved multi-region micro-depletion model has superior accuracy over the original one-region micro-depletion model when applied to depletion calculations and xenon-transient simulations with enriched fuel in tight lattice pitch.
