Abstract

To achieve the interlaminar delamination imaging of multilayer structures, we proposed a systematic methodology named Integrated Reflected–Transmitted wave-based Imaging (IRTI) by using the interface wave. Based on the interaction mechanism between the interface wave and interlaminar delamination, the first step of IRTI is to extract the interlaminar delamination information. Then, the IRTI designs an appropriate probe layout according to the excitation characteristics of the interface wave. Next, two algorithms are adopted respectively in the IRTI for reflected wave-based imaging and transmitted wave-based imaging. Lastly, the two imaging results are fused to obtain the final result. Furthermore, the effectiveness of the proposed IRTI is verified by experiments on the double-layer plates with delamination. For a rectangle-shaped and the XJTU-shaped delamination with different shape characteristics, the imaging results are legible, and the identified delamination shape is with accurate contour and location.
