Abstract

Ice Flashover Trips (IFTs) occurred in group are the key factor in stimulating vulnerability of power grid. This paper proposed a vulnerability curve of IFT in local grid by analyzing IFT characteristics in an extreme ice storm occurred in China 2008 with the direct economic losses over 15 billion dollars. The purpose of the paper is to reveal IFT inherent characteristic of regional grid, and provided risk information to operators during ice storm.
