Abstract

This paper aims at analyzing the growth rate of visits for 157 tourist attractions in response to the National Day and Mid-autumn Festival in Shandong, China, and investigating whether and to what extent it is possible to identify some influencing destination attributes. We find there exists a serious imbalance in the growth rate for various attractions. Among all the destination attributes examined, facility convenience related attributes, attraction rating, and ticket price have significant effects on the growth rate. Several implications for stakeholders are also provided to improve tourism management and marketing during large-scale events.
