Abstract
Grain refinement performances of A1-5Ti-0. 4C, A1-5Ti-1B and A1-3Ti-1B-0. 2C on A356 alloy were investigated comparatively. The results show that average size of a-Al is decreased from above 1000/Lim to approximately 175μm with 0. 2% A1-3Ti-1B-0. 2C at 730 °C , and the fade of refining efficiency can not be observed within 60 min, which is greatly superior to those of A1-5Ti-0. 4C and Al-5Ti-1B master alloy. It is also found that modification effects of Sr on eutectic Si is independent of addition of the Al-3Ti-1B-0. 2C master alloy. Compared with those of A356 alloy modified with Al-5Ti-1B, ambient tensile strength and elongation of the alloy modified with A1-3Ti-1B-0. 2C are increased by 5. 18% and 15.98%, respectively.
