Abstract

Located in Yunan–Guizhou canyon region, Hengjiang to Daguan Section of Neijiang–Liupanshui Railway (N–L Railway), with high mountains and steep slopes, deep river with torrents, conditions of topography and geology are rather complicated; rockfall is very frequent and causes great harm to the railway and geological hazards have brought great threaten to safety of railway transportation. Remote sensing technology and ground geological investigations are used in the study of geological hazards in the particular section. Types, origin, scale, extent and effect degree of rockfalls are investigated along the railway. Assessment system of geological hazards and classification system are developed and data base of Rockfall are completed. This research helps the railway administration department to get quantitative and qualitative information of geological hazards in N–L Railway, and it also provides reference for scientific management of geological hazards. .
