Abstract

In many cases a simulation model might be the only faithful way to describe the detailed system dynamics. It is usually time-consuming to run a simulation model for the accurate performance estimation, leaving alone optimizing the design of the system. In this chapter, we review the fundamentals of ordinal optimization (OO), which has started since Ho et al. [1].
