Abstract

Simulation of temperature fields for tank guns has great significance. A simplified model of temperature distribution for a tank gun barrel under the radiation, convection and shooting conditions was formed. Temperature fields under radiation alone and shooting coupled with radiation were calculated. The thermal-time curves on the radial and the axial direction were given. Variations of the outer surface temperature of the gun barrel were discussed. Compared with the experimental values, the results from this model are satisfactory on the whole. The results are important for studies of tank infrared thermal image, infrared identification, infrared stealth as well as firing revision.
