Abstract

A comprehensive review on the applications of the field synergy principle to the analysis of convective heat transfer is conducted. The existing three explanations for enhancing the convective heat transfer are summarized and the results of numerical analysis to reveal their common essence are provided. It is found that all the three explanations can be unified under the field synergy principle, so the conclusion indicates that the field synergy principle is a unified theory for the enhancement of single phase heat transfer.
