Abstract

The Fault Tree Analysis method was proposed to evaluate the reliability of the laser radar system which was mainly used to measure the content of the tropospheric vapor and aerosol. The fault tree model had been constructed to analyze and raise reliability of the system. The qualitative and quantitative analyses had been carried out using self-developed software RiskA which was mainly applied to analyze the reliability of complex systems, and the failure probability of this radar system was obtained. The confidence interval with the stated confidence level was given by uncertainty analysis. The importance of the bottom events were also calculated and ordered. The components which impacted the failure probability of the radar system most were pointed out by the importance analysis. Some advices and references which could be used to optimize the design and improve the system's reliability during the operational stage had also been proposed.
