Abstract
In the present paper, we build a home-made liquid GaInSn loop and design a suitable liquid film generator to conduct the spreading characteristics of liquid film flows with the influence of inlet velocity and magnitude of magnetic field. The high-speed camera and high precision laser displacement sensor are used to get plenty of thickness data on liquid film. Experimental data show that with the increase of Reynolds number, the fluctuation of liquid film surface increases, the surface waves change from 2D model into 3D model, and the high frequency fluctuation plays the leading role, while the increase of magnitude of magnetic field reduce the surface waves, and stabilize the film flows.
