Abstract

The self-oscillating phenomena in thermo-acoustic system was experimentally studied in a self-built test rig of Standing-Wave Thermo-acoustic Engine. The dynamic characteristics of the thermo-acoustic system during the on-set process and damping process were investigated in detail under different charging pressure and different mole-fraction of the helium and the argon. It was revealed that the hysteresis of the self-oscillating of the thermo-acoustic system always exists for the mixture working gas. In addition, it was also found that a new second on-setting phenomenon occurs for a certain mole-fraction of the Helium-Argon mixtures, further showing the complexity of the thermo-acoustic self-oscillation.
