Abstract

Narrow channel heat transfer enhancement has notable advantages of small temperature difference and high heat transfer coefficient. In this paper, a unique kind of configuration, lunate channel, is adopted as the flow channel. The forced gas-liquid two-phase flow and boiling heat transfer of liquid nitrogen in the narrow channels are studied in detail. The experimental results prove that the boiling heat transfer coefficient of this type of channel is as 3-5 times as that of smooth tubes. The effects of mass flow rate, channel gap size and shape of the channel on the heat transfer enhancement are investigated.
