Abstract
A calorimeter based on the quasi-steady state theory was developed to measure the latent heat of fusion and specific heat capacity of substance from 250 K to 400 K at atmosphere pressure. The calorimeter was calibrated by means of measuring the specific heat capacities of n-heptane and verified by measuring the specific heat capacities of water. The deviation of measured results from the accurate values reported in the literature is within 1 percent. The latent heat of fusion and specific heat capacities in solid and liquid of paraffin wax which could be used to store thermal energy from condensers in air-conditioning were measured with this calorimeter.
