Experimental investigation on fluid flow and heat-transfer properties of metallic foam tube-bundle

Abstract

An experimental investigation was conducted to reveal the fluid flow and heat transfer performances of the bare and metallic foam tube bundles. And the effects of micro-structure on the performance of tube bundles was analyzed, it can be observed that the performance of tune-bundle was improved significantly using the metallic foam covered tubes at the expense of a higher pressure drop, and the experimenal results showed that the heat-transfer rate had a 2~3 times increase using the nickel-foam.
