Abstract

Using a shock tube facility, ignition delay times of methyl propanoate (MP) were measured at the temperature of 1020~1720 K, pressures of 0.12~1.0 MPa, equivalence ratios of 0.5~2.0 and fuel concentrations of 0.5%~2.0%. The measurements were compared to the predicted values using two available MP chemical kinetic models (Princeton model and Westbrook model). As the two models failed to give a reasonable prediction on MP ignition, a modified MP model was proposed through modification on the available models and it gives better prediction on the MP ignition delay times under all tested conditions than those of the two available models.
