Experiment on heat transfer of natural convection in vertical narrow rectangular channels

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

Experiments on heat transfer characteristics of air natural convection in vertical narrow rectangular channels were conducted. The dimensions of the three channels investigated here were 800 mm in length, 60 mm in width, and 1.0 mm, 1.8 mm and 2.5 mm in the gap depth, respectively. The vertical rectangular channels were electrically heated with stainless heating rods on the two 60 mm sides and the average wall heat flux was 100-1500 W/m2. Moreover, correlations between Nu and Ra were explored. Our results indicate that all the experimental data of these three channels can be well correlated by Nu=0.263Ra0.308 in the range of 0.141≤Ra≤16.8.
