Abstract

Fractional Frequency Transmission System (FFTS) offers a competitive choice for offshore wind power integration and a wind farm integrated via FFTS is named Fractional Frequency Wind Power System (FFWPS). At present, as a new trend for offshore wind power system, FFWPS has caused widespread attention of international academic circles. The economical feasibility, technical feasibility and key equipment of FFWPS applied in offshore wind power system have been studied by foreign scholars. This shows that FFWPS is a competitive offshore wind power system solution. According to the structure characteristics of FFWPS, a novel grid connection structure of FFWPS was proposed and introduced. The wind turbines in FFWPS can be connected to the fractional frequency grid one by one through the proposed grid connection method. The grid connection technology has economic and technological advantages. The main circuit and control circuit were designed in this paper, and the grid connection experimental platform of FFWPS was also built. The feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed grid connection method was verified through the experiment.
