Abstract
Hydrodynamic simulations are used to design heavy-ion-beam driven shock wave experiments for equation-of-state measurements in dense plasmas. Appropriate beam and sample parameters for low-entropy compression in a planar geometry are suggested. The influence of 2D effects also will be discussed.
