Abstract

Can different economic development levels cause different carbon emissions, which being accordance to Environmental Kuznets Curve Hypothesis? This paper says ‘yes’ and utilizes a vector autoregression (VAR) model which focuses on different energy types, economic growth and carbon emissions, based on empirical data. The results show that when area’s growth suffers a positive impulse, the trend of carbon emissions will rise firstly and then decline, and the relationship of them is an inverted “U” type of Kuznets curve.
