Abstract

In this paper, a geometrical sensing model was developed for the rotating arc sensor in gas metal arc welding (GMAW) of fillet joints that have open and closed ends, considering the mathematical model of the GMA welding system. By using the two developed models, simulations of welding current of the rotating arc sensor were performed and compared with the experimental results of current waveform in open and closed fillet joints in steel welding.
